Defence Grid: The Awakening is a great single player game. Originally released in February 2008, the graphics aren't the greatest. Still, its the type of game that graphics don't make or break the replay value. If you ever played UMS starcraft you would have basically played the same style of game but if you haven't I will quickly explain. Basically you have an opposing army that walks from point A to point B. Once they get to point B they grab one of your limited "cores" and then try to return it to point A. Although they don't attack you, they are heavily armored and you have to destroy them before all your "cores" are stolen. So, you build various defences that do different levels of damage to different units. For this reason it is called a "Tower defense" game.
Anyways, if you are a hardcore game the 20 levels can be beaten pretty quickly, but at the same time they are very challenging levels for new gamers. The game has very low computer requirements so it can be enjoyed by all while still receiving great reviews from gaming magazine all over the world. The game is only $10 on steam and should give the user a ton of value. The 20 levels can be beaten in several different ways while challenging you with 15 different types of enemies.
